INSTRUCTIONS

Project 2 / UI/UX Design Document
Week 5
In this assignment, we need to complete the creation of a research plan according to the template and list of questions, and interview 5 people with the goal of obtaining first-hand experience with users.
We need to take notes of their pain points (problems) and highlights (things they love) when using the service or their competitors. My target audience is Gen Z

- finish the 5 interviews transcript
- take down the data, one idea per post-it
-sort them in affinity maps
- find categories/themes
- create 3 personas from those themes

I basically divided the interview questions into 5 sections.I interviewed my friends and they answered me in Chinese, and I translated them into English.Interview Log
  • Section 1: Background
  • Section 2: User experience
  • Section 3: Functional requirements
  • Section 4: Visual design and emotional experience
  • Section 5: Summary and suggestions

Research Plan

Week 6
After we finished the five interviews, we sorted them into categories on FigJam and created three user personal

User Personal
Based on the 5 interview questions, find out their commonalities and characteristics and then classify them in FigJam.

Mr.Sylavin says that my user's personal focus should be on services, not applications.

Week 7
After I created a new user personal, I started to create their own User Journey Map.This week we needed to complete three user personal user journey maps, and Mr. Sylavin strongly suggested that we use large ups and downs to better understand their situation, and use emoji to express their mood at the time.

Week 8

After Mr. Sylavin's detailed analysis, I finally understood what I needed to change.
We need to create a user journey map for each persona and add three solutions for each step and look into developing the user flowchart for our favourite persona.

Week 9
After asking Mr. Sylvain, he suggested that my solution could be targeted at the app, and then directly gave the solution in more detail. Then select a favorite user to create a user flow diagram. Before that, need to complete MoSCoW and 2x2 matrix first.

My user flow is based on the flow of my first User Personal - Adeline. She wants to go on a short trip with her friends, so she wants to use the RWG app to book a hotel, but she doesn’t know how to use it.

Week 10
After selecting a user to create a user flow, we need to draw at least 5 sketches based on this user flow that are the interfaces that the user may use.

FEEDBACK

Week 7
Specific Feedback: User personal should focus on services, not applications

Week 8
Specific Feedback: Similarly, users personal should focus on the service as much as possible and put themselves into their situation to find out their needs and problems.

Week 9
Specific FeedbackThe solution can be more detailed, and once completed can continue with the user flowchart

Week 10
Specific Feedback: Next, create at least 5 interface sketches

REFLECTION

Experience
In this project, I focused on real user needs by doing interviews, surveys, and card sorting. I put myself in the user’s shoes by testing real-life tasks like finding emergency tips. This helped me spot hidden issues and design smoother user flows.

Observations
Users want a clean layout, clear categories, and faster access to key features. Card sorting helped me organize content better, while user flows showed where users got stuck. Even small changes made a big difference.

Findings
I realized that good design starts with empathy. Research gave me clear insights that I turned into actionable design improvements. This project showed me how user feedback can directly lead to a better app experience.

Then we need to build the sketches on figma for each scene before the next week. Week 12 A good idea I came up with is to add a chat function. If today's target is a group of friends who want to book a hotel, they can all use this app and enter a group to chat, and at the same time they can share hotel information to this group. They can vote, compare hotels, and even plan the itinerary of the trip. More plans can be made in this group, and other members can also participate in the selection process. Then based on this idea, I designed the first sketch on figma. Mr. Sylvain sugges...
